Processing case of foreign funding to political parties: Govt

As per a Delhi High Court ruling, the government was processing the case of political parties accepting donations from foreign sources, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
"The government is processing the case of acceptance of donations by political parties from foreign sources, in accordance with the judgment dated March 28, 2014 of the Hon'ble Delhi High Court," Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said in a written reply.
His reply was to a question on whether the government had failed to take action against political parties for accepting donations from foreign sources.
The high court, in its order, had said by receiving donations from the UK-based Vedanta Resources' subsidiaries, two political parties had violated the law in this regard.

It had also directed the Centre and Election Commission to take appropriate action against them within six months.
