The incident happened yesterday when Daulat Singh was on his way to a nearby place on his motorcycle, police said today.
The assailants, half a dozen in number, blocked Singh's way and beat him up with sticks.
The accused then opened fire on Singh due to which he received bullet injuries in heads and legs, SHO Mahaveer Nagar police station Bhanwar Singh said.
One of the assailants identified as Ravindra Singh was arrested today and he was being interrogated to know the cause of the attack, he said, adding, a search has been launched to nab the remaining accused.
