According to a statement issued by All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), over 100 members of families of farmers who ended their lives took part in the protest.
Father and daughter of Gajendra Singh, the Rajasthan farmer who had committed suicide during an AAP rally here in April, also joined the protesters.
Addressing the protesters, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury announced his party's support to the struggles of the family members.
Senior journalist P Sainath pointed out how the Government was under-reporting farmers' suicides and trying to give a false picture far removed from reality.
AIKS general secretary Hannan Mollah claimed farmers gave Narendra Modi government a fitting rebuff on land acquisition ordinance by the broad united struggle and added that similar fight will be launched in connection with plight of farmers' families.
Parliamentarian and trade Union leader Tapan Sen, professor Utsa Patnaik and others addressed the protest.
Farmers from Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Bengal took part in the dharna.
