The villagers of Govardhan area protested with the body of the deceased soldier on Tuesday, demanding martyr status for him and an inquiry into his untimely death, according to information from the district headquarters.
Ramavatar Singh (20), was in 48th SSB battalion and had recently been deployed in Srinagar on Pakistan border.
On Monday, his brother was informed that the deceased was admitted to the hospital with a stomachache. He later passed away.
The situation was resolved after District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar talked to the villagers who cleared the blockade and carried out the last rites of the deceased.
