Around 25 persons were detained today after they gathered outside the embassy of Saudi Arabia in south Delhi's Vasant Vihar locality to protest against the recent execution of a Shia cleric in the kingdom, police said.
Scores of protesters gathered outside the embassy gate today afternoon, following which the police had to resort to water cannons to bring the situation under control, said a police official.
Nobody sustained any major injuries and all the detained persons were released by the evening, the official added.
