A police sub-inspector was nabbed today by the ACB while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 for preventing a child marriage, an official said.
The accused PSI, identified as Sampat Pawar, was posted as incharge of Kumhar pipalgaon chowky in Ghanswangi taluka in Jalna district.
According to the ACB statement, a social worker had approached Pawar for preventing the marriage of a child which was supposed to be held on June 28 at Gopichandan nagar tanda.
However, Pawar allegedly demanded Rs 17,000 for his intervention, the ACB said.
"The complainant paid Pawar Rs 7000 and promised to pay the rest of the amount today. He, meanwhile, approached the ACB which laid a trap," it said.
A case has been registered against Pawar.
