Punjab announces relief for brick kiln owners
Press Trust of India Chandigarh Providing relief to brick kiln owners, Punjab government today exempted them from the purview of Environment Management Plan/Mining Plan.
The move will assist the kiln owners in the purpose of excavation of brick earth from an area of not more than four hectares and a depth not exceeding 1.5 metres.
Disclosing this here today, Punjab Industries and Commerce and Technical Education Minister Anil Joshi said this decision will provide much relief to the state's brick kilns, as they will now be able to commence their production by obtaining a permit for excavation of earth.
He said a notification in this regard has been issued.
The minister further said, as a result of this decision, supply of building material will ease out in the market and will speed up development work in the state.
