Border Security Force (BSF) today said it has recovered five kg heroin from the Wadhai Cheema border out post (BoP) near the international border with Pakistan in Punjab.
BSF Inspector General, Punjab Frontier, Mukul Goel said the seizure was made near the BoP yesterday.
Based on specific information, a search operation was carried out during which five packets of the contraband wrapped in plastic cover were recovered from the fields, he said.
The top official said BSF has intensified vigil along the border in view of its vulnerability due to ongoing cultivation and tilling season and heightened activities of smugglers and anti-national elements.
The border guarding force has been extra alert to effectively check activities of anti-national elements on Punjab border with Pakistan, the IG added.
