"Congress in Punjab is united ...With the fielding of senior leaders in the fray the party has been strengthened ... While SAD-BJP combine is set to face the biggest defeat in the State by losing on all seats," PCC Chief Partap Singh Bajwa told reporters here.
He was addressing the mediapersons after formally re-inducting veteran party leader Bir Devinder Singh into the partyfold.
Bajwa, who was accompanied by senior party leaders, including former chief minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal and Laal Singh, said Akalis have become "frustrated" due to "unity" among the rank and file of Congress ahead of hustings.
On the differences with Amarinder Singh, he said that "I will campaign for Amarinder...I will work every inch to ensure Amarinder's win."
When asked that Amarinder had pitched for an Acting President of PPCC as Bajwa is contesting polls from Gurdaspur, the state Congress Chief said high command has to take a call on the issue. Amarinder has suggested sitting MLA and veteran leader Laal Singh to be appointed Acting President recently at Patiala.
Talking about his Gurdaspur seat where he is locking horns with actor-turned-politician Vinod Khanna, Bajwa said that "the actor had already accepted his defeat by claiming before people while seeking votes that he is fighting his last poll."
"He (Khanna) is good in dialogue delivery, but not in politics," he said rejecting that the two-time former MP Khanna can match him in politics.
Punjab is going to polls on April 30 with the poll process to start in the state from tomorrow.
