Punjab Governor Shivraj V Patil retires

Punjab Governor Shivraj V Patil retired here today on completion of his five-year term.
Patil had taken over as Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Union Territory of Chandigarh on January 22, 2010.
Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki has been given the additional charge of Punjab, following Patil's retirement.
In his farewell speech, Patil thanked the officers and staff of Punjab Raj Bhawan for giving him "more than 100 per cent support and co-operation" during his five-year tenure.
