Punjab, Haryana reel under intense cold waves, rain likely

Cold wave conditions persisted at many places in Punjab and Haryana, with Narnaul becoming the coldest place in the region by recording a minimum temperature of 3.5 degrees Celsius.
A MeT department official said rain was likely to occur at a few places in both the states, including Chandigarh until tomorrow.
"An Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation lies over central Pakistan, its neighbourhood and a few places in Punjab and Haryana, including Chandigarh which are likely to get rain until tomorrow," he said.
Hisar in Haryana reeled under biting cold conditions and registered a minimum temperature of 4.6 degrees, while Karnal shivered at 4.2 degrees, two notches below normal.
Ludhiana in Punjab witnessed a cold night at 5.7 degrees, while Patiala recorded the minimum temperature of 6.1 degrees, the official said.
Adampur registered a low of 5.8 degrees. Amritsar recorded a minimum temperature of 7 degrees Celsius, four degrees above normal, he said.
Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, registered a low of 7 degrees Celsius.
