The Officer-in-Charge of violence-ridden Panrui police station in Birbhum district, Amarjit Biswas, was today removed from his post.
Nilotpal Mishra, who was the OC of Dubrajpur in the same district, has been appointed the new OC.
Mukesh Kumar, SP, Birbhum, confirmed the change, but did not reveal the reason behind Biswas' sudden removal.
Four OCs have been changed in the last one year in trouble-torn Panrui.
Several people, including the son of a local TMC leader, were injured in a clash in Punrai on January 14 between BJP and Trinamool Congress supporters.
According to sources, on Monday night fresh violence erupted at Chatarbandi, Belpata, Gorapara and some other villages between TMC and BJP supporters in which two persons, belonging to TMC, were injured.
