Neeraj Kumar Sinha (30) was passing near K G Girls' High school when two motorcycle-borne assailants intercepted him and opened fire from close range, sources said.
Sinha, who received five bullets shots in the chest, died instantly, they said.
Superintendent of Police, Mayur Patel said the identity of the assailants and motive behind the killing was yet to be ascertained and a mmanhunt was launched to apprehend the culprits.
The body has been sent for post-mortem, Patel said adding an FIR was being lodged against unknown killers.
