Quake: Kollam-based charitable organisation to build houses

Mata Amritandamayi Math, a Kollam based charitable organisation has decided to build houses for all Indians affected by the devastating earthquake that wrecked havoc in Nepal last month and the tremors of which were felt in North and East India.
"In India as well, the extent of damages is huge and people are struggling to bring their lives back on track even a month after this catastrophe occurred. Thus, we have decided to build homes for those Indians who have nowhere to go," Jayesh Bhate, spokesperson for the Math told reporters here.
"Immediately after the calamity, we had sent representatives in Nepal to help in whichever way possible. The Math was engaged in providing basic provisions like Dal, rice, clothing, blankets. We also distributed tin sheets for roofing to provide temporary shelter to all those who have lost their homes," Bate said.

He added that in the last few days, the Math has provided around 1 lakh Tetanus Taxied vaccines and tons of other medicines to cater to the thousands of people injured during the earthquake.
"Such vaccines are not only crucial for those directly injured but equally important for the post disaster period, where injuries from collapsed debris pose new threats for adults and children," he said.
The Math has been in the forefront of providing relief to people hit by natural calamities across the country in the past.
