Congress President Rahul Gandhi discussed "politics, films and society" with Tamil film director Pa Ranjith and actor Kalaiyarasan when they called on him in his Delhi home.
Gandhi, who posted his picture with Ranjith and actor Kalaiyarasan after the interaction yesterday, said he enjoyed the meeting.
"I met film director Pa Ranjith, the man behind blockbuster films like Madras, Kabali and Kaala and actor Kalaiyarasan, in Delhi yesterday. We talked about politics, films and society. I enjoyed the interaction and look forward to continuing our dialogue," he said on Twitter.
Describing the meeting as important, Ranjith said the discussions with the Congress leader included caste and religious bias threatening the core of India's Constitution.
"IMP.meeting with @RahulGandhi abt (sic) politics & art. Discussed caste & religious bias threatening d (sic) core of our secular constitution," he said in a tweet.
Ranjith, who took a dig at the prevailing political situation in his latest venture, the Rajinikanth starrer "Kaala", added that he looked forward to the discussion "taking shape".
"A national leader engaging with ppl from all ideologies is very encouraging," he tweeted.
Ranjith made his directorial debut with the romantic comedy 'Attakathi' before going on to make the political drama "Madras" and the Rajinikanth starrers "Kabali" and "Kaala". He interspersed the "Kaala" script with several Dalit symbolisms.
