Gehlot welcomed the move of making Rahul the head of party's Coordination Committee for 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
"It was the feeling of the party that Rahul should get a larger role," he said.
"Congress workers and leaders had a feeling and wish that Rahul should get a larger role at the centre stage. I am happy and glad that he has started preparations to play his role actively and will fulfil the responsibility given by the party president," Gehlot told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.
Gehlot claimed the opposition parties wanted to stall development in the country to create resentment among public but they have been exposed now.
"Other political parties were making environment and conspiring to destabilise the government which is not in the interest of the country. It demoralises people, government and officers cannot take proper decision which results in resentment among people and ultimately, aam admi has to suffer," the chief minister said.
"The opposition wanted to create such an environment to come to the power, but they have been exposed and Congress has challenged them. Now they are facing internal feud about their president," Gehlot said while indicating towards BJP.
