Railway freight traffic grows by 4 pc in Q3

Railways carried 866.14 million tonnes (MT) of freight traffic during the first three quarters of 2013-14, registering a growth of 4.63 per cent over the same period in the previous year.
During the same period in 2012-13, Railways carried 827.79 MT, Railway Ministry data said.
Railways carried 96.40 MT of traffic in January 2014, an increase of 3.83 MT over the freight traffic of 92.57 MT carried during the same period last year, showing an increase of 4.14 per cent.
