All Zonal Railways have been instructed to observe "Rail Swachhta Saptah" from September 17 to 25 and organise activities on the theme "Swachh Paryavaran, Swachh Stations, Swachh Railgaadi and Swachh Neer".
An intensive inspection will be carried out to monitor cleanliness standards of toilets and bed linen in trains.
Pantry cars and catering units will also be examined. Similarly, drinking water installations at platforms will be surveyed.
Subsequently, suggestions and feedback will be collected from passengers.
Each Zonal Railway has been asked to prepare at least one video film on the theme of cleanliness.
Railways will be involving its unions, NGOs, Scouts and Guides and passengers to make this campaign a success.
