Areas of east, central and south Delhi received heavy downpour, while other parts of the city witnessed light showers in the morning.
Heavy showers reduced visibility and caused water-logging on major roads and intersections.
Traffic slowed down considerably on major arterial roads around Saket, Sangam Vihar, Lajpat Nagar and Chirag Dilli.
The city received around 3.7 mm of rains till 8.30 am, but only 0.3 mm between 8.30 am and 5.30 am, MeT Department said.
In Punjab and Haryana, the maximum temperature dropped by a few degrees with the region receiving scattered rains.
Ambala in Haryana recorded a high of 30.1 deg C, three deg below normal while Hisar's maximum settled at 33 deg C, down by three notches.
Patiala and Ludhiana in Punjab, which received rains, registered respective highs of 31 deg C and 30 deg C, both down three notches below normal.
Light to moderate rainfall occurred at few places in Jaipur, Bharatpur and Kota divisions during the last 24 hours.
In Uttar Pradesh, rivers Ganga, Ken, Sharda and Ghagra continued to flow above the danger mark. Some parts of UP witnessed heavy rains and thundershowers.
