Rains lash several areas in Himachal, mercury drops

Mercury dropped across Himachal Pradesh as several areas in the state received intermittent rains with thick fog engulfing the region under heavily overcast sky.
The rains triggered landslide in interior areas of Kullu, Mandi, Chamba, Sirmaur and Shimla and also uprooted trees at some places, reports reaching here said.
Paonta Sahib in Sirmaur district recorded highest 90 mm rains, followed by Shimla 48 mm, Sundernagar 46 mm, Khadrala and Jubbal 35 mm, Baijnath 29 mm , Dalhousie 27, Bijahi 25 mm, Kheri 24 mm, Jubbar Hatti 23 mm , Nav Bahar 21 mm, Sarahan 20 mm, Jogindernagar and Saloni 17mm , Manali, Nahan and Dharamshala 14 mm each, Kalpa 13 and Solan and Bhuntar 11 mm.
The maximum temperature plummeted to 27.2 degrees Celsius at Dharamshala followed by Sundernagar and Bhuntar 26.5 degrees, Nahan 24.4, Solan 24, Shimla21.3, Kalpa 18. 4 and Manali 17.6 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperature fell sharply in tribal areas and higher hills with Kalpa, Keylong and Manali recording a low of 13, 13.4 and 13.8 degrees respectively, followed by Shimla 15.8, Dharamsala 16, Nahan 19.7, Solan 20.2, Bhuntar 20.5 , Sundernagar 21.6 and Una 26.2 degreesCelsius.
The MeT department has predicted rains and thunderstorm across the state over the next six days from tomorrow onwards.
