Raipur rail division No. 1 in train punctuality

The Raipur division, which falls under South East Central Railway (SECR) zone, has topped in the country in terms of punctuality in running of trains in August, an official said today.
"The Raipur division, with 99.67 per cent time adherence,
has earned first place among 69 divisions in the country for punctuality in running of mail/express and passenger trains for the month of August," Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Raipur, Rahul Gautam said at a press meet here.
Raipur is followed by Mysore (99.36%) and Ranchi (99. 33%) divisions at second and third positions, respectively.
The DRM also briefed about the activities being carried out under ongoing 'Swachh Rail, Swachh Bharat' drive from September 17 to 25.

"At least 22 senior officials conducted inspections of sanitation at A-1 and A class stations under the division between September 17 and 23," Gautam said.

Besides, 115 other officials examined implementation of the campaign objectives in other stations, he added.
During this period, action was taken against those who were caught littering in the station premises and trains and a fine of Rs 51,000 was recovered from them, he added.
NGOs, scouts-guides, rail unions and religious institutions are also playing a vital role in the cleanliness campaign, the official said.
The DRM gave details about facilities to be provided to passengers under the division, including wi-fi at Durg, elevators at Raipur and Durg and expansion of automatic ticket vending machine system.
