Rajasthan's final electoral rolls published on Friday showed an increase of over 67.53 lakh new voters compared to the total of over 4.07 crore in the 2013 assembly elections.
The increase was registered despite over 3.18 lakh deaths, over 3.48 lakh persons shifting and 1.23 lakh duplicate entries being removed from the electoral rolls, Chief Election Commissioner Anand Kumar said at a press conference here today.
He said in the final electoral rolls for 2017 assembly elections there were 4,74,79,402 voters in Rajasthan, including 2,47,60,755 males and 2,27,18,647 females, besides 1,13,642 service voters.
In the 2013 assembly elections, there were 4,07,26,144 voters in the state. In a recent electoral list revision programme, 7,84,061 applications were received for names to be added to the rolls, of them 7,60,288 had been accepted.
After scrutiny and physical verification, 7,91,320 names were removed from the electoral rolls.
Kumar said 99.99 per cent voters have photo-printed voter ID cards and the rest would get them soon. There are 51,796 polling booths, including 9,490 in urban and 42,306 in rural areas.
