BJP MLA Ghanshyam Tiwari today held the state government responsible for a high court stay on the Rajasthan Backward Class Bill, claiming that it would have an adverse impact on upcoming vacancies.
The Rajasthan High Court on Thursday had stayed the Bill, passed in the assembly last month, to raise the reservation for other backward classes (OBCs) from 21 per cent to 26 per cent to grant a 5 per cent quota to Gujjar and other communities.
He also claimed that reservation would be a prominent issue in the next year Rajasthan assembly elections and alleged that the government had betrayed the people in the state.
The outspoken BJP MLA said that the development would have an adverse impact on upcoming vacancies and asked the state government to clarify its stand on the matter.
Tiwari, who has differences with chief minister Vasundhara Raje, said he will announce his next political strategy in a public meeting on November 12 in Sikar.
