In a rare decision, the Rajasthan High Court has ordered to install CCTV cameras in the house of an old woman to observe her son and daughter-in-law's behaviour with her.
The court directed the SHO of the concerned police station to report the details to the court every fortnight.
The court gave these directions while hearing a criminal revision petition filed by widow Vimla Dhariwal (72) stating that she was being ill-treated by her son Arun Dhariwal and daughter-in-law Lalita.
Her counsel, Nadish Singhvi said Vimla's son has taken control of the restaurant run by her late husband and has shifted in the house she lives in, with his family.
She said they all were now ill-treating her and trying to push her out of her husband's house.
Accepting the petition under Protection of Domestic Violence against Women Act, justice Sandeep Mehta ordered to install CCTV cameras in every corner of the house to keep 24 hours watch on the behaviour of her son and daughter-in-law.
The court ordered the son to bear the expenses of the cameras' installation.
Besides this, the court also ordered the SHO of the concerned police station to report the progress and details to the court every fortnight.
The court ordered the son of the woman to deposit Rs 8,000 in the court by 10th of every month from the earning the he is making from the property of his father.
Before this, the petitioner had moved an application in the lower court, which had partially admitted the application.
Upon this, the petitioner had filed a criminal revision petition in the high court.
