As BJP registered an impressive show in the Rajasthan civic body polls, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje today said the new bodies should ensure a clean and responsive administration for the people who have trusted the party.
BJP today won 31 of the 46 civic bodies, including five municipal corporations, in Rajasthan.
"We will have to 100 per cent fulfil the trust of 'janta' (people) who voted us to power in the Assembly last year, Lok Sabha this year and now civic bodies with an overwhelming majority," Raje said while addressing the new councillors and senior leaders at the party headquarters here.
"We have to pass the exam and prove our mettle that 'janta' wanted while casting their votes. So give able, clean and responsive administration to public at every level of governance, including the level of state government, MPs and civic bodies," she said.
"BJP will continue to win and rule the nation in three tiers of democracy from Parliament to Assembly, Assembly to civic bodies and panchayats," she said.
She said the elected representatives should link their programmes with Swachcha Bharat Abhiyan, Jandhan Scheme and other welfare plans of the Centre and the state.
Raje claimed BJP would form 42 of the 46 civic bodies in the state.
In an indirect reference to Narendra Modi, Raje also louded the contribution of "one man" in bringing a "sea change" in the entire system of democracy from Parliament to the state assemblies and now civic bodies.
Party's convenor of civic body elections campaign G C Kataria attacked Congress saying that its "worst days" have "started" now as it first lost Assembly polls, then all 25 Lok Sabha seats and now civic polls.
He said there was only one person Sachin Pilot who campaigned for Congress candidates, while other party leaders did not come out in support.
