Ace designer Rajesh Pratap Singh today presented an amalgamation of tradition with technology at a thematic fashion theatrical show on the launch of Nexa by Maruti Suzuki here today.
An array of clothes created by him using a range of techniques ranging from Ikat to the traditional Japanese origami -- all set in a monochrome black and white was showcased intended to keep the focus on the premium end car.
"I do a lot of work with black and white and they approached me as they have seen my work for a few years and they wanted to do a show with my work and their ideas," the 46-year-old designer said.
The imprint of the designer's trademark -- Ikat patterns, geometrical prints and hexagonal shapes were seen in the clothes flaunted by the models during the show.
In the third section of a four part show, that was peppered with foot-tapping music, Singh showcased garments using his longtime technique of weaving with metal to create "slightly futuristic but essentially technology based clothing".
"These are not just pretty dresses but an engineered collection," Singh said.
The show also displayed an array of black leather wear woven with fur upholstery, khadi mixed with silk and laser cut designs.
