The CBI today arrested a senior official of Ranchi Doordarshan for allegedly accepting bribe, six days before his retirement, police said here.
SP of CBI anti-corruption wing S K Kher said Deputy Director General of Doordarshan, Ranchi, Sailesh Pandit was arrested red-handed while he was accepting the bribe of Rs 5,000 at his residence from an employee of the organisation.
The agency laid a trap after the employee, a clerk, complained to the CBI that Pandit was demanding a cut on his arrears, the SP said.
Deputy Director P K Jha of Doordarshan, Ranchi, said the CBI had informed the DD in writing about Pandit's arrest and that he had sent it to the head office in Delhi.
