Rao stresses on cleanliness & basic facilities

Stating that his government is working with the objective of elimination of poverty, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today urged the officials to join the endeavour and work with speed and transparency.
Rao, who held a meeting with the District Collectors and senior officials here, made several suggestions and took decisions on various issues, a release from his office said.
The government is spending about Rs 27,000 crore for different welfare programmes, it said.
He suggested that an 'Urban Day' and 'Rural Day' be observed every month. All relevant issues should be reviewed on the two days.
The Chief Minister also directed construction of toilets for every household and also dumping yards, burial grounds, market places, public parks in urban areas.
Observing that the population in urban areas in Telangana would soon reach 50 per cent of the total, Rao stressed on keeping the towns clean and provision of basic facilities.
Suggesting that the city of Rio De Janeiro in Brazil be considered a "role model", Rao stressed on effective maintenance of drainages and stree lighting and also asked the authorities that efforts should be made to promote greenery and drinking water supply.
He favoured increasing the number of common dump yards and collection of garbage from households.
"Officials should weed out the ineligible from the list of beneficiaries of social security pensions and provide pensions to the eligible, he said.
A fund of Rs 10 crore would made available to every District Collector to meet immediate requirements, Rao was quoted as saying the release.
