A local court today awarded eight years rigorous imprisonment to a man for raping a minor girl.
Additional Sessions Judge Shashikanta Vaishya also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Mahendra Ahirwar who lured the 13-year-old girl, who resided in Baskwaha tehsil, to Damoh district in September 2013 and raped her for nearly one-and-a-half months.
Later, her father lodged a complaint and police rescued her and arrested Mahendra.
The sentence was awarded to him under relevant Sections of the Indian Penal Code and also under the Prevention of Children against Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
