A minor rape survivor in Odisha's Kandhamal district has alleged that the local police has failed to provide security to her and her family and even wanted to resolve the issue amicably.
The class X student was allegedly raped in her house in Phiringia area when she was alone on May 7. The accused, a resident of the same village as hers, was arrested on May 10.
The girl lodged a complaint to Kandhamal Superintendent of Police Pinak Mishra today against the officers of Phiringia police station alleging that they were ignoring her and family's complaints about threat by family members of the accused.
Sub-divisional police officer of Phulbani P K Panigrahi has rejected the allegation by the rape victim and said the police have been probing the matter.
The family members of the accused had also instigated the villagers to socially boycott them and prevented their stay at the village, she alleged adding it has become impossible for them to continue staying there.
The police instead of acting on the complaints had advised her family to have an amicable settlement with the family members of the accused, she said.
The SP was not immediately available for comment.
