The events - jointly organised by the National Gandhi Museum, the Gandhi Peace Foundation and the Gandhi Smarak Nidhi - that would run through the day begin at 11 am with a ceremonial prayer and spinning, a practice famously propagated by Gandhi.
Then, the Mahamta Gandhi Memorial Lecture 2018 will be delivered by former vice president Mohd Hamid Ansari at the auditorium of the Gandhi Peace Foundation, organisers said.
Shortly after, '5:17', a documentary about Gandhi based on the memoirs of K D Madaan, a former programme officer at the Akashvani, will be screened at the National Gandhi Museum, he said.
He said everyday there would be Gandhi's discourse at the Birla House which Madaan used to record. These recording would then be broadcast on Akashvani every day.
"Like every other day, Madaan was present with his equipment at the Birla House on January 30, 1948 to record Gandhi's discourse. The film is an eyewitness narration of that day," Annamalai told PTI.
"The partnership between Publications Division and National Gandhi Museum has provided a boost to help restore and reprint heritage Gandhian titles, 'Selected Lectures on Mahatma Gandhi'. It will further help promote Gandhian ideals among the youth of this country," Annamalai said.
"The value addition done by National Gandhi Museum in this book by including rare pictures from the archives has added to the production quality of the book," he added.
Born on October 2, 1869, Mahatma Gandhi was shot dead at the Birla House in Delhi on January 30, 1948.
