Describing Uttarakhand's rich bio-diversity as its identity, Chief Minister Harish Rawat today asked scientists engaged in research to take their valuable ideas to people through information technology saying it would not only boost agricultural produce but would also create new job opportunities.
Making the point after inaugurating a workshop on bio-technology at Kumaon University, Rawat said, the variety of fruits and flowers found in Uttarakhand are a proof of its rich bio-diversity.
It is the state's identity and an area full of potential.
Scientists should make the most of the IT revolution to take their valuable ideas to farmers and help them harness bio technology as a medium to increase their produce and generate new employment opportunities.
"Promising all help from the government for the conservation of bio-technology," he also asked Kumaon University Vice Chancellor H S Dhami to submit his suggestions to the state government soon so that necessary provisions could be made for the sector in the forthcoming budget.
