Board of Secondary Education (BSE) in Odisha today declared the results of this year's Matriculation examination with an all-time record pass rate of over 85 per cent in regular stream.
More than 35 per cent of them secured marks above 60 percent in the examinations that were held in February-March.
School and mass education minister Debi Prasad Mishra along with department Secretary Ranjana Chopra unveiled the result booklets here.
Out of 552394 results published in Regular stream, a total of 470645 students passed the examination, registering a pass percentage of 85.20. For the first time this year in the BSE history, more number of girls (238430) passed the examination than that of the boys (232215).
As usual, the pass percentage in ex-regular category was much lower and was pegged at 58.22 percent. Similarly, 61.22 percent students passed in regular correspondence course and only 35.38 percent students made it in ex-regular correspondence course, pegging the overall pass percentage at 83.72.
In the Madhyama Examination (Matriculation in Sanskrit language), the results of which were also published on the day, out of 4896 students appeared, a total of 4049 students came out successfully registering a pass percentage of 88.91.
Looking at the record number of students passing the matriculation examination this year, admissions in the Plus II colleges of the State would see tough competitions.
The State has some 1500 government and private Plus II colleges that have combined enrolment strength of around 3 lakh in Arts, Science and Commerce streams.
