Relatives of a 14-year-old Nepali student who had died reportedly of pneumonia last week in India, today staged a demonstration in front of the Indian Embassy here demanding a probe into his death.
Shaan Prajapati, a class IX student of Sherwood College Nainital, Uttarakhand, died on November 15 at a private hospital in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
Shaan's mother, Neena Shrestha has filed an FIR against school authorities, alleging that the school did not provide adequate treatment to him.
His family members are planning to meet Nepalese Prime Minister Sushil Koirala to request him for ordering a probe into his death.
Neena today alleged that the school was responsible for her son's untimely demise.
The boy's family held a press conference today and claimed that they were not informed of his illness on time.
Rajesh Dhwaj, Shaan's relative said he could have been saved if school authorities had been more vigilant by providing better care, timely medical check-up and treatment.
Meanwhile, Sherwood College in a statement, has denied any negligence from their part as they provided medical attention to him and that Shaan's family was also informed on time.
"During this whole period (treatment of Shaan) the Principal was in constant touch with the mother of the child and was updating her on the child's health status on a regular basis. On the demise of the child at Apolo Hospital her mother was informed immediately and all possible assistance was provided by the Principal to the parent of the child," the statement said.
There are around 500 Nepali students currently being enrolled in the school.
