Haryana Finance Minister Captain Abhimanyu today informed the Assembly that the state government was examining the release of 912 acres of land, which was to be acquired for setting up an industrial township.
Replying to a question during Question Hour in the state Assembly, the minister said the land, measuring 912 acres, was being acquired for setting up of Chaudhary Devi Lal Industrial Model Township (IMT), Manesar. The acquisition proceedings, however, were dropped subsequently, he said.
"It is also a fact that the state government issued a notification dated August 27, 2004 under section 4 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894, for acquisition of about 912 acres land for the project.
"After considering the objections under Section 5-A, about 224 acres was excluded and a notification dated August 25, 2005 under Section 6 for the remaining 688 acres land was issued," he informed the House.
After issuing the notification under section 6, and before taking the decision to drop the acquisition proceedings, about 70 acres of land was released by the government to different parties, he said.
Of these 70 acres, 14 acres was released on the recommendation of Ministers' Committee in favour of Subros Ltd for Group Housing and Ashok Kumar Lakhotia for setting up a 3-star hotel, Abhimanyu said.
45 acres was released as this land fell within the areas for which Change of Land Use (CLU) had been granted and another 10 acres of land was released to a company, he said, adding one acre land was released for setting up a petrol pump.
He informed that the matter was being examined.
