Relentless attempts to portray BJP as communal: Upadhyay

Asserting that BJP does not treat Muslims as a vote bank, Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay today said there has been "relentless attempts" to portray BJP as a communal party.
"Other parties treat Muslims as a vote bank but BJP doesn't treat any group to be a vote bank. For us every single person, regardless of his religious identity, is a citizen first," Upadhyay said.
He was replying to a question on whether Delhi BJP would try reach out to the minority community to get support in the upcoming assembly election.
Upadhyay said that even Prime Minister Narendra Modi had to face such accusations while he was leading the party's general election campaign earlier in the year.

Muslims account for around 10 per cent of the total electorate in Delhi.
Accusing the Congress and AAP of "creating an atmosphere of fear psychosis", the Delhi BJP president said people of Delhi will "repose their faith" on the party in the assembly polls.
"The people of Delhi and the country at large will decide by sifting facts from fiction upon carefully observing things," Upadhyay said.
Rubbishing AAP's contention that there was no difference between BJP and Congress, Upadhyay said, "People of Delhi knows who's the B team of whom. So I don't need to elaborate.
