"The Secretariat buildings will be completed only by August end and so the functioning of departments will only start then," Chandrababu said after inspecting the ongoing works at the Transitional Headquarters this afternoon.
Four departments symbolically moved into the fifth block of the Transitional Headquarters, also called the temporary Secretariat, on June 29 but as nothing was ready as yet to actually work from there, the employees went back to Hyderabad after a couple of days.
The government decided to shift the government departments from Hyderabad to Velagapudi in a phased manner on July 6, 15 and 21 as and when the ground and first floors in the five blocks get ready.
Now, that schedule looks to go awry.
Against this backdrop, Chandrababu reviewed the progress of works with Capital Region Development Authority officials and the two construction majors L&T and Shapoorji Pallonji and obtained clarification on when exactly everything would be in place.
"We will create facilities on par with corporate and Information Technology offices in the Transitional Headquarters. Only the Secretariat here will be temporary (till the Administration City in the Capital is ready) but the buildings will be permanent," Chandrababu said.
"There may be some small problems initially but the employees should adjust," he added.
