: The remote on line bedside monitoring system being followed in centrally administered JIPMER will soon be adopted in hospitals nationwide.
The Health and Family Welfare Services Ministry has expressed interest in this regard and sought details of the system from JIPMER to emulate it country wide, a release from JIPMER Director S C Parija said today.
It said JIPMER has been adopting the system in the tertiary burns unit of the Department of Plastic Surgery and in all other Intensive Care Units for some years now.
It is a two way communication system between patients, visitors and relatives on the one hand and doctors treating patients for communication and for monitoring the condition of patients on the other.
The release said thefacility allows doctors to monitor the condition of the patients even when they are away in operation theatres or outpatient department.
Patients would be closely watched constantly by doctors on line and steps taken immediately whenever patients developed complications.
The head of the department of Plastic Surgery, Ravi Kumar Chittoria, is the designated medical officer to operate the system.
Patients can also interact with doctors on line, the release said.
