Delhi BJP today wrote to the State Election Commissioner seeking removal of all Delhi government's publicity materials like hoardings, posters and banners from all public properties across the national capital.
In his letter to the State Election Commissioner S K Srivastava, Delhi BJP General Secretary Kuljeet Singh Chahal said as the the model code of conduct has been enforced in Delhi after the announcement of MCD polls, it is important that all publicity material be removed.
"Delhi BJP has requested the State Election Commissioner to direct the Chief Secretary and the Police Commissioner of Delhi to survey Delhi roads and ensure removal of all illegal publicity material put up by political parties and government bodies," a statement issued by the party said.
The BJP leader also drew the attention of the State Election Commissioner towards Government's promotional advertisements in the media, especially, towards the hoardings proclaiming that Kejriwal government has increased minimum wages in Delhi.
Chahal said that no ordinance has been issued as the Bill has only been passed in Delhi Assembly and thus the publicity was "misleading" and should be removed.
Chahal also sought removal of hoardings having pictures of the Chief Minister from the walls of government schools and hospitals saying that majority of the polling centers are being set up in schools.
