Meanwhile, at Indore, the industrial hub of MP, banking and postal services were paralysed as scores of employees did not turn up in 29 nationalised banks and 42 post offices. Cash transactions in banking sector worth Rs 300 crore was stuck due to the strike, a spokesman of Indore United Forum said. About 35 branches of LIC remained closed in the city, an official said. At least 700 employees from 42 post offices, including GPO, also observed strike. The Indore United Forum organised a protest rally from Punjab National Bank and passed through main streets whereas employees of post offices and LIC organised gate meetings.
