General Administration Minister of State Lal Singh Arya today said that the decision on dismissal from service rpt dismissal from service of IAS couple, Arvind and Tinu Joshi has to be taken by the Centre to whom the Madhya Pradesh government has already sent a proposal thrice, between April 2012 and May, 2014.
Arya furnished the information at the Assembly in response to a question raised by Congress MLA Umang Singhar.
The state government has sent the proposal to dismiss rpt dismiss the IAS couple after an income tax raided their house in 2010, following which a case of disproportionate assets was filed against them.
The government has sent proposals in this regard thrice, the minister said, adding, that the Centre has to take a decision on the issue.
The proposals to dismiss rpt dismiss Arvind Joshi were sent on April 28, 2012, March 6, 2013 and on May 24, 2014 while, against Tinu Joshi, it was sent on April 30, 2012, March 6, 2013 and on May 24, 2014.
He also informed that after getting sanction for prosecution in the matter on January 20, 2014, challan was filed in the court by the probe agency on March 1 for initiating the process of forfeiting disproportionate assets.
In a written reply to the same question, the government also informed that a committee constituted under the chairmanship of former Chief Secretary, Nirmala Buch, found the allegations against the couple as totally correct.
Arvind and Tinu Joshi, both 1979 batch IAS officers, made headlines after the income tax department raided their residence in February 2010 and unearthed assets valued at Rs 360 crore.
While Arvind Joshi was posted as then Principal Secretary of Jail, Tinu was the Secretary of Women and Child Development department.
Soon after the raids, the couple was placed under suspension by the state government.
The IT raid at the official residence of Joshi couple had also yielded over Rs 3 crore in cash and documents of other assets, which were "grossly disproportionate" to their known sources of income.
