A newspaper in the United Arab Emirates says a civil aviation investigation has found that a fighter jet came within 3.5 seconds of colliding with a passenger plane in Dubai in February.
The preliminary report, cited today by The National newspaper, said the UAE warplane was conducting exercises during the near miss with a Boeing 777 bound for Istanbul with 431 people aboard.
No one was injured in the February 12 incident.
The report says the BAE Hawk fighter made an emergency manoeuvre to veer away from the Emirates airliner.
