Republicans rebuff Obama on training Syrian rebels

House Republicans have rebuffed President Barack Obama's private request for authority to train moderate Syrian rebels to battle Islamic State group militants in Syria.
They have also turned aside his appeal for USD 2 billion to respond to crises in Ukraine, Iraq, and other global hotspots.
The administration made the requests last Friday but they are not part of a temporary funding measure heading for a House vote tomorrow.
The requests were made in a document sent to Congress but not released officially. Obama pressed leaders for the authority in a private meeting yesterday.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says Congress should support the authorisation.

Obama is expected to publicly make the request in his White House address tonight.
Democrats are trying to get the Republican Party's decision reversed.
