Residents of Barfani Dham area blocked BRTS claiming that their taps have gone dry despite the fact that they were paying water cess regularly, a sub-inspector of Vijay Nagar Police Station said.
The protesters allegedly misbehaved with some two-wheelers riders and damaged some vehicles and brought the traffic to a standstill for around 90 minutes, forcing police to restore to mild cane charge, he added.
The officer said as many as 200 protesters were booked under IPC section 147 (rioting), 341 (wrongful restraint), while 13 of them have been identified.
