Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit, beginning here on November 19, will focus on leveraging tourism for sustainable development of the state.
Investments in the tourism sector will take centre stage at the upcoming summit, where specific sectoral sessions will focus on "Leveraging Tourism for Sustainable Development" at Sitapura Convention Centre near here on November 19, according to an official here today.
This session will be attended by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Tourism & Culture Mahesh Sharma, Rajasthan Tourism Minister Krishnendra Kaur, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group's chairman for South Asia K B Kachru, Executive Director of ITC Nakul Anand, and Principal Secretary of Rajasthan Tourism Shailendra Agarwal.
This highlights the dependence of Rajasthan's economy on tourism as well as its potential for economic growth of the state in the future.
Given the immense importance of tourism for development and growth of the state through economic benefits like foreign exchange earnings, creation of jobs, infrastructure development and promotion of local tradition and handicrafts among others, there is an enormous need for investment in this sector, the official said.
The session will focus on ways to increase the potential for tourism in Rajasthan in a manner that will aid the sustainable development of the state.
Rajasthan has a number of tourist interest spots located in area that have thick forest cover. Development of tourism in these areas must be planned in a careful manner so as not to disturb the natural eco-system along with generation of employment for neighbouring residents.
Some of the identified areas for developing eco-tourism projects include Sambhar Wetlands of Jaipur, Jaisamand Lake, Van Vihar and Talab-e-Shahi of Dholpur among others.
