The 44-year-old singer is making a comeback to the show's 13 th season after a gap of one year, reported Digital Spy.
"It was actually a difficult decision because I had a lot of stuff going on. It was going to be hard to fit it in. But, to be really honest, I just love the show and I love working with the singers," she said.
Lopez will be accompanied by two other judges Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr.
'American Idol' will return in January 2014 on Fox.
