Reacting to reports about alleged scam, DDA in an official statement said, "the allotments in the cases being alleged had been done as per policy framed in 2002 in which it had been decided that all cases of change of address, wherein the allotment letter is sent at wrong addresses despite change having been communicated by the allottee, leading to cancellation should be allotted a flat at the same prices as given in the original demand letter and without penalty."
"Some even approached court of law and a total of approximately 150 allotments were made, partly on the directions of court and partly after verification of genuineness as per procedure laid for the purpose," DDA said.
CBI took cognisance of the complaint in December, 2012 and almost all the 100 cases have been scrutinised and FIR has been registered in three cases, it added.
"It is reiterated that there are only three cases which are being investigated out of approximately 100 cases which have been scrutinised by CBI. Even in three cases which are under scrutiny, no charge-sheet has been filed as yet and it would be wrong to presume that all cases referred involve fraud, before full scrutiny, investigations and filing of charge sheet," the development authority said.
"It is alleged that certain DDA officials, by misusing their official position and doing manipulation in the records, processed those bogus applications and admitted false claims; and, the accused property dealers in connivance with certain officials of DDA got allotted some MIG flats at the old rates which the accused brokers immediately sold in the open market at much higher rates," CBI spokesperson Dharini Mishra said.
