The Russia-India-China (RIC) Foreign Ministers' trilateral meeting is likely to be held here "very soon".
An indication of this was given by the external affairs ministry today.
"I cannot announce at this stage but, may be, very soon we will make an announcement," external affairs ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said, while replying to a question on the issue.
The RIC meeting was planned for April this year here but it had to be postponed as Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi could not confirm his participation in the meeting due to scheduling problems.
There were media reports then that Wang had put off his visit to India to protest New Delhi's decision to allow the Dalai Lama to travel to Arunachal Pradesh. However, China had dismissed those reports.
Replying to a separate question, Kumar said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina are likely to launch a new train service between Kolkata and Khulna in Bangladesh on November 9.
There is an existing train service between Kolkata and the neighboring country.
To a separate question, Kumar said a meeting of India- Ukraine inter-governmental commission had to be postponed by Ukrainian side due to scheduling issues of that country's foreign minister.
Minister of State for External Affairs M J Akbar was to attend the meeting which was slated to be held on November 1 and 2 in that country, Kumar said.
He said there was some urgent preoccupation of the Ukrainian foreign minister because of which the meeting had to be postponed.
Kumar said both sides are working on finalising new dates and that the meeting may take place in the first half of next year.
He was replying to a question on whether India has cancelled the meeting due to pressure from Russia.
