Rice basmati strengthens on increased buying

Rice basmati prices strengthened up to Rs 200 per quintal on the wholesale grains market today on increased buying by stockists.
Maize and bajra also edged up on increased demand.
Traders said increased buying by stockists against limited supplies from producing regions mainly attributed rise in rice basmati prices.
In the national capital, Pusa-1121 variety traded higher at Rs 7,800-9,600 from previous level of Rs 7,800-9,400 per quintal.
Non-basmati rice permal raw, wand and sela were also ended higher at Rs 2,150-2,250, Rs 2,250-2,300 and Rs 2,800-2,900 against last close of Rs 2,100-2,200,Rs 2,250-2,275 and Rs 2,800-2,825 per quintal respectively.

Maize and bajra also moved up by Rs 10 and Rs 20 to Rs 1,255-1,260 and Rs 1,420-1,425 per quintal respectively.

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice, 9,500, Basmati common new 8,600-9,100, Rice Pusa-(1121) new 7,800-9,600, Permal raw 2,150-2,250, Permal wand 2,250-2,300, Sela 2,800-2,900 and Rice IR-8- 1,850-1,900, Bajra 1,255-1,260, Jowar yellow 1,470-1,500, white 2,275-2,300, Maize 1,420-1,425, Barley 1,395-1,400, Rajasthan 1,080-1,090.
