Rich haul of liquor seized in Bihar since April 1

Over 77,276 litres of country-made liquor and 73,158 litres of India Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) have been seized across Bihar in four months since prohibition was came into effect in Bihar on April 1.
As many as 8,437 litres of toddy was also seized during this period and 9,669 persons have been arrested so far for violation of prohibition, while 9,490 cases have been filed in this regard, Excise Commissioner Aditya Kumar Das said.
Of those arrested, 3,413 have got bail. Altogether, 66,112 raids were conducted in the state since prohibition was enforced, he said, adding the state government has placed order for eight X-ray machines to be installed at Patna airport and major railway stations.
The Nitish Kumar-led Grand Secular Alliance government had banned the manufacture, trade, sale and consumption of country-made liquor since April 1, and on April 5 added foreign liquor to the list.
